Which Trim Option Performs Best?

Which Trim Option Is Best For My Windows?

When choosing between IndowONE and IndowKIT, there are a few things to consider:

  1. Frame Step - Frame step is the flat surface within your window frame and where your insert will be installed. For IndowONE inserts, the insert must have at least ⅝" of unobstructed space around the entire frame step. IndowKIT inserts require a frame step with 1 1/4" of unobstructed space. IndowKIT can also be face mounted on the window frame directly - contact a Fit Specialist for more information.

  2. Frame Material - IndowKIT is currently only recommended to be installed in window frames that are made out of wood or drywall. If you are interested in installing IndowKIT into a window frame made from concrete or metal, please Contact Us and we can help you determine if the frame is suitable for IndowKIT. IndowONE can be installed in any window frame made out of any material as long as there is a smooth, unobstructed surface around the entire frame where the insert will be installed.

  3. Operability & Modifications - Most IndowKITs are screwed directly into the window frame. If you have any concerns about causing damage to the window frame (such as in a rental or historic home), IndowONE may be preferred, as it requires no modifications to the window frame during installation. Additionally, if you plan to frequently remove your window insert, IndowONE can be pulled out and stored easily, while IndowKIT may require a little more care to remove the acrylic from the frame.

Why Does IndowKIT Cost Less?

Even though both IndowKIT and IndowONE use the same premium insulating acrylic, we're able to offer IndowKIT at a cheaper price than IndowONE due to the cost of the framing materials and production time. IndowKIT is shipped disassembled, which may also result in lower shipping costs. Get an estimate today to compare costs and estimated shipping fees!
