Do you use Indow Windows to air seal your home? You may qualify for a tax credit.

November 23, 2013
by spardue

Indow window inserts s have always delivered savings in the form of lower energy bills. But now they may offer you even greater savings with a federal tax credit of up to $500 if you used them or plan to purchase them as an air-sealing measure for your home in 2012 or 2013.

Indow Windows Tax CreditHere’s how to qualify:

1. Purchase and install Indow Windows for the primary purpose of air sealing your home beginning January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2013.

2. Save your sales receipt and a copy of our Manufacturer’s Certification Statement with your tax documents.

3. Claim the tax credit associated with your qualifying purchase and installation on your federal filing for the 2012 or 2013 tax year as applicable (see IRS form 5695).

Note: The tax credit is 10 percent of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. There are other limitations so be sure to check the full details of this tax credit.

Are there any other tax benefits or incentives?

Yes! Your purchase of Indow Windows likely qualifies as an eligible home improvement, the value of which can be added to the taxable cost basis of your home, thereby reducing your taxable gain when you sell. Be sure to check with your tax advisor for details and limitations of this tax benefit.

If you install Indow Windows as part of a whole-home energy efficiency retrofit, Indow Windows may qualify for cash incentives or low-interest financing as an air sealing measure. Check with your local energy efficiency program (like Clean Energy Works Oregon) for eligibility and details.
